We (Heart) the Richland Dog Park
by Matt McGee on November 16th, 2008. Filed under: Richland Life, where:99352.About three months ago, I was out with the kids walking our dog through the neighborhood. We came across a woman who had recently moved to the Tri-Cities, and she was also walking her dog. While the two dogs got to know each other, we chatted a bit, and the lady mentioned that she wished there was a dog park like the one she had where she lived before. She said it was great to have some open space for the dogs to run around and play with other dogs — no leashes, just total freedom and great socialization for the dogs.
Well, I hope the lady (whose name I never got) knows that we now have a great dog park in Richland! And our dog, Sparky, absolutely loves it! We’ve been there with 4-5 times now, and made this video on one of our recent trips. It’s only a minute long, but I think it gives a good idea what the Tri-City dog park is like:
Look fun? Want to take your dog? It’s on the east end of Badger Mountain Park on Keene Road. Be sure to visit www.tricitydogparks.org to learn the rules and guidelines so that all the dogs (and owners) get along and have fun together.
And, if you like the dog park, be sure to tell people about it. The Richland dog park at Badger Mountain is a six-month test, and will only become permanent if people use it and play by the rules. I’d hate to see this go away….
