Stimulus Money Impact: 700 Jobs at Hanford
The DOE has announced that federal stimulus money has already had a direct impact on 700 jobs at Hanford. Here’s the news release (in PDF format for some reason; c’mon, folks, this is 2009).
The DOE says stimulus money has led to the hiring of 400 new people and saved another 300 jobs. And the recruiting is still going on, so the total is only going to get bigger.
“Recovery Act funding is providing us with a tremendous opportunity to keep highly trained people on the job at Hanford, hire 400 new workers, and do important cleanup work sooner,” said Dave Brockman, Manager, DOE Richland Operations Office. “We look forward to the hundreds of new employees our contractors and their subcontractors will be hiring as we work to reduce our footprint of active cleanup on the site.”
