Richland Snow Removal – How It Works
Richland has four snowplows and one grader to clear 271 miles of roads. The Street Division has 10 employees available for around-the-clock snow removal operations and has been cross training employees from Water Maintenance and Wastewater/Stormwater Maintenance to assist with street clearing.
The city mobilizes its sanding and/or plowing equipment when streets are icy or snow reaches a three-inch depth. Crews sand or clear streets by these priorities: (1) main arterial streets, (2) collector streets and school zones, (3) hilly residential streets and (4) remaining residential streets. If snowfall or freezing rain resumes before crews have reached all streets, they begin again with priority 1 streets.
Now you know how snow removal works in Richland.
