Richland Real Estate Market Showing Good Signs
Building permit revenues for the first month of 2010 were 55% higher than in January 2009. All construction permits totaled 110, compared to 71 in 2009.
Last month, the city issued 26 permits for single-family dwellings, the highest number and highest valuation since 2006 and approximately a 76% increase over 2009 numbers and valuation.
Despite the residential increase, the city issued no new commercial permits in January. Staff completed 66 plan reviews, the second highest total since 2003. January inspections also topped 2009 numbers.
Most of this new construction is taking place in south Richland. The new home count in north Richland, in the Horn Rapids area, is about half that of the new home count in south Richland.
