Good news if you’re looking to rent here. Commercial construction is on the rise in Richland.  The story mentions apartments and a medical facility are both underway.  Woo-hoo!  It’s about time…for the apartments, anyway.  I don’t know if we need another medical facility, but I don’t think they’d get financing for it if they hadn’t shown the need.

And speaking of financing, this makes me chuckle -

…in some cases more local banks…understand the need here and are willing to take on that risk.  In other cases it’s sort of non-conventional financing,” says Bill King, Deputy City Manager for Community and Development Services.

Non-conventional financing?? Does that make anyone else think of people paying exorbitant interest rates and dealing with guys who have muscle men hovering around?

Maybe the medical center is to help the people dealing with the after effects of wearing cement shoes and swimming with the fishes???
