Leslie Road Construction Begins

If you’ve driven down Leslie Road recently, you already know that a big construction project is underway. It’s part of a joint effort the City of Richland is doing with Kennewick and Benton County that’s scheduled to last until July. They’re going to widen Leslie Road between Reata Rd. and Clearwater Avenue, and put in a roundabout at Clearwater and Leslie, along with other improvements.

Here’s how the City of Richland describes what’s happening now:

Last week, the city’s contractor, Rotchy Inc. from Yacolt, WA, began installation of 18″ sewer main near the Rachel Road intersection. In the work zone, traffic is reduced to one lane, with alternating vehicles in each direction, causing traffic delays. This is the first of many utilities to be installed prior to reconstruction of Leslie Road. The next installations will include water, stormwater, electrical and communications utilities.

This is phase one, and next up will be work between Reata Rd. and Clearwater Ave.
