Coffee Party Meeting in Richland
The TEA Party has been active in the Tri-Cities for about a year now, but they’ll have company starting tomorrow. March 13 is the national kick-off of the Coffee Party and the Tri-Cities group is meeting in Richland. It’ll happen from 1 to 3 pm at Howard Amon Park and, yes, coffee will be served.
What’s the Coffee Party?
Here’s what the Coffee Party is, according to the national web site‘s Mission Statement:
The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.
The local organizer is a guy named Timothy Vaden, and he’s explained to the Herald that the Coffee Party is non-partisan and not affiliated with the Democratic Party. If memory serves, the folks at the TEA Party made similar statements about not being affiliated with the Republican Party.
