Closure: GW Way and First Street
The city sent us a notice earlier today about the upcoming closure at the intersection of George Washington Way and First Street in Richland. And this is a whopper of a closure: It starts Thursday (October 1st) at 8:30 am and continues through November 6th.
Yes, November 6th.
The intersection will be closed round the clock, 24 hours a day. This is the first phase of the First Street project — it involves sewer installation and getting the intersection ready for a traffic light in the future.
The city will set up the following detours:
- Northbound at Spengler Street, diverted to Stevens Drive
- Southbound at Horn Rapids Road, diverted to Stevens Drive
I’ve made a handy map at right that shows what’s going on. Cuz that’s the kind of guy I am. You’ll thank me later…
Questions about the project can be directed to project manager Jay Marlow at the city offices: 942-7540.
