That’s the City of Richland’s new Toyota Prius. And with its recent addition to the city’s fleet of vehicles, Richland becomes the first city government in the area to “go green” by buying a hybrid vehicle.
If you’ve been reading the for a while, you may recall this old post about how much the city spends on gas — close to a million dollars last year, and a lot more than they spent back in 2007.
So buying a hybrid seems to make sense. The city says this car gets about 40 mpg, and will replace a 1994 van that was getting 14 mpg.
